Cleo is a Ruby on Rails app built in 10 days during Le Wagon's bootcamp with three other fellow students. We built it from scratch as a MVP for potential investors.
During the project, I led the UI design of the app making wireframes on Figma to guide its development. I was also involved in both frontend and backend development of the app.
Cleo is a community of eco-aware people who wish to reduce their carbon footprint and learn how to live more responsibly towards the environment. The app suggests challenges the users can participate in and invite friends. For each completed challenge, you earn points that are deducted from your overall carbon footprint.
As my first large project using Rails, building this app has been very instructive. Most of all, I learned how to work in a team of developers, collaborating on GitHub, using branches, working on different features of the app at the same time and yet, being able to deliver new code and avoiding conflicts. It taught us all to have a good communication on what we were working on. Overall I also greatly improved my understanding of git commands and the relationship between local and remote repositories. Finally, having done mockups on Figma prevented some headaches and allowed for a much quicker development.
